Delcambre dentist about dental implants. Dental implants are becoming the most popular way to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are natural looking and a long-lasting missing tooth replacemenat. They are made up of two parts: the root portion of the implant is made from titanium and is implanted into the patient’s jaw bone. Once the root portion has fused with the jaw bone, a porcelain crown is permanently attached to the implant. This in effect creates a whole tooth that replaces the missing tooth.
The implant is made to fit in naturally with the rest of your teeth, so it is impossible for anyone to distinguish the tooth from your other natural teeth. The tooth’s crown is made to perfectly color-match the adjacent teeth. This new implant is as strong and as functional as a healthy permanent tooth. You will be able to eat anything you like, and your clear speech will be totally unaffected. With proper brushing and flossing your dental implant may well last a lifetime. Also, the implant is so comfortable that you will not be aware that you have it; it will feel as natural as any of your healthy permanent teeth. In order to be a good candidate for an implant your jaw bone must be healthy enough to hold the root portion, and your body must be healthy enough to heal easily from the surgery. Generally, if you are healthy enough to withstand the surgery from a tooth being extracted, your body is fit to withstand the implant surgery. If you would like to meet with our
